REFLECTION ON THE PRODUCT
My criteria evaluated the product on 4 strands.
Aesthetics - Does it look good?
Content - Does it teach French?
Functionality - Is it comprehensible?
Audience - Are the target audience helped?
Using these, I placed my book in the 5 - 6 band. It looks pretty nice, it has French, some parts are questionable but it general it is can be understood, and it has a clear target audience.
However, I disagree with this! I know I made those criteria, but that was past me. Present me knows that there should have been more weighing towards teaching French. I feel as though it is not the best method to learn the language. Some things are ordered weirdly, some explanations are bad, there is a lack of detail, and some statements may be misleading. In reality, it should fall into the 3 - 4 band.
Many improvements could be done, such having a chapter on vocabulary in addition to having a wider and more extensive vocabulary throughout; it could have more examples, and parts could be reworded or reordered to make them easier to understand.
REFLECTION ON MYSELF
As a learner, I improved a significant amount throughout the project.
I learnt a lot about document formatting, creating ideas that build on each other, and the French language.
For the book, I needed to learn things such as inserting document shortcuts within links, using color to aid in reading, and structuring paragraphs and chapters cohesively. I learnt the importance of formatting and of ease of access.
As well, there were the improvements such as to time management and general life skills mentioned in the Process tab of the website.
I got much better at speaking French and realized that I had not known about many basics and discovered several things that I had not realized I was lacking knowledge in. I learnt more about grammar and was able to practice skills such as writing and reading while researching for and creating the book. While the product could be used as an introduction to French, it could have been made better. Regardless, I feel as though I learnt a lot about the language.
